We now live in an era where single-person households have become the dominant family structure. According to the National Data Agency's Population Census, the ratio of single-person households in South Korea has more than doubled over the past 24 years, skyrocketing from 15.5% in 2000 to 36.1%. While this shift offers independence, it has also brought severe social challenges: emotional isolation and solitary deaths ( godoksa ). A study by the Seoul Institute revealed that 62.1% of single-person households experience profound loneliness, with many suffering from social isolation and depression. [Life] Potatoes are in Season!

In Korea, potatoes are in season during the summer time. I used to prefer sweet potatoes over potatoes and ate a lot of sweet potatoes in the summer. However, I got to like potatoes better these days. I think I got sick of sweet potatoes because I had them too much.

One day at work, my coworkers brought some potatoes which he raise from his weekend farm. On that very day, I made chicken dish which goes well with potatoes. Though the main ingredient is chicken, potato was so good that I ate more potatoes than chicken. I sent him a text message praising his potatoes. It was so kind of him that he brought more potatoes for me. Thanks to him, I am blessed with potatoes that are in season!

Potatoes are easy to grow. That is why there are many people who raise potatoes in their weekend farms in Korea. Because of abundance, people ask about good ways to consume potatoes every summer. In Korea, people enjoy boiled potato, potato soup, potato pancake (savory flavor), fish dish with potato, chicken dish with potato, and salads.

Potato is very common ingredients around the world. There are tons of different recipes for potato. And depending on the culture, people eat potatoes differently.
