International Concern Grows Over South Korea's Detention of 95-Year-Old Religious Leader

The recent detention and prosecution of Chairman Lee Man-hee, the 95-year-old leader of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, has sparked intense scrutiny from international human rights and religious freedom organizations. Legal experts and sociologists worldwide are raising critical questions regarding South Korea’s adherence to global human rights standards and the principle of state neutrality. The Controversy Surrounding the Detention On June 24, 2026, South Korean authorities took Chairman Lee into custody on charges related to the Political Parties Act, followed by a formal indictment on June 30. Prosecutors allege that between July 2021 and January 2024, the church organized the enrollment of approximately 50,000 members into the ruling People Power Party (PPP) to influence internal primaries. However, the legal dispute does not center on party membership itself, but on whether coercion was involved. While prosecutors allege a forced campaign, Shincheonji Church maintains that all p...

[Daegu] Shincheonji Bible Seminar - Betrayer, Destroyer, and Savior

Daegu, the city of Apple, is located in the southeastern South Korea. It is the third-largest urban agglomeration in South Korea after Seoul and Busan. Daegu was an economic motor of Korea during the 1960s–1980s period and was especially known for its electronics industry. I lived in Daegu for two years when I was 1st grade in Elementary school 😁 At this city, there was October Shincheonji's Bible Seminar on Sunday, Oct. 15th, 2023!

It was another great opportunity to listen to prophecy and fulfillment of Revelation. What was different from previous seminars is the topic. Previous two seminars covered 'Fulfilled Realities of the Entire Book of Revelation' while this seminar talked about three characters of Revelation - Betrayer, Destroyer, and Savior. Though topic was different, it was just as great as other two seminars.

There are many believers who wants to evangelize people and I understand that. However, I really hate when believers simply say 'if you don't believe Jesus, there is no salvation so you must believe Jesus.'  The reason why I don't like this is because it makes me feel like I don't have a choice but only to believe.

One of the thing that chairman Lee said during the seminar is that whether or not to believe is up to you but you can decide after listening to what I say. I liked this statement because it feels like he iis not pushing me to believe but make own decision after listening to what he says about the Bible. Also, he is logically explaining about the promise that God made and how we can be saved according to the word. I also would like you to give yourself a chance to listen to and make your own decision about your belief!
