International Concern Grows Over South Korea's Detention of 95-Year-Old Religious Leader

The recent detention and prosecution of Chairman Lee Man-hee, the 95-year-old leader of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, has sparked intense scrutiny from international human rights and religious freedom organizations. Legal experts and sociologists worldwide are raising critical questions regarding South Korea’s adherence to global human rights standards and the principle of state neutrality. The Controversy Surrounding the Detention On June 24, 2026, South Korean authorities took Chairman Lee into custody on charges related to the Political Parties Act, followed by a formal indictment on June 30. A Cozy Afternoon at a Charming Cafe

This afternoon, I decided to head out to a cafe since it was a bit too cold to stay at home, and I had some work to get done. As I walked through the falling snow, I felt so much joy. There's something magical about snow, isn’t there? It made the short walk to the cafe near my house feel like a winter fairytale.

I chose a cafe I had always wanted to visit. Though it was narrow, the layout was unique, with three floors! The first floor was for ordering and preparing food and drinks, the second floor was filled with cozy tables and seats, and the third floor was a terrace on the rooftop.

What made my visit even more special was the kindness of the cafe staff. Even though I only ordered a cafe latte, the barista took the time to create beautiful latte art. The coffee was incredibly smooth and had a rich and creamy. It was honestly one of the best lattes I’ve had in a while.

I spent a productive afternoon at the cafe, surrounded by its warm ambiance. It was the perfect spot to focus and avoid the temptation of being lazy at home. The snow outside, the warmth inside, and the kindness of the staff all combined to create such a memorable moment.

Sometimes, little trips like this remind me how small things—like good coffee, kind people, and beautiful weather—can make a day feel special.
