UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The petition voices growing international alarm over institutional discrimination, social stigma, and the erosion of due process affecting minority groups, specifically focusing on the recent treatment of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. The Core Appeal: Decisions Must Be Based on Evidence, Not Stigma In its official submission to the UN, CAP LC shifted the focus away from internal theological controversies, choosing instead to address a more critical systemic issue: the objective standards of administrative and judicial justice. Gift from the Seoul Youth Guarantee Center

Recently, I participated in a satisfaction survey organized by the Seoul Youth Guarantee Center (청년광역센터), and to my surprise, I received a thoughtful gift in return! The gift included a drip bag coffee set from Youth Coffee Lab (청년커피랩) and a cozy knee blanket. The blanket is perfect for keeping your thighs warm during the chilly winter months, especially when you're seated at your desk or relaxing in a chair. It's not only practical but also a sweet gesture that added warmth to my day—literally and figuratively!

About the Seoul Youth Guarantee Center
The Seoul Youth Guarantee Center (청년광역센터) is an essential resource for young people in Seoul, helping them navigate various aspects of life, from career development to personal growth. The center offers diverse programs, including mentoring, job placement, and even workshops for mental well-being.

One of my favorite features of the center is its free space! Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot to study or a cozy place to hang out with friends, the center offers a comfortable environment at no cost. I personally visit the branch in Yongsan (용산), and it’s such a welcoming and resourceful place to recharge, learn, or simply connect with others.

If you're a young adult living in Seoul, I highly recommend checking out the Seoul Youth Guarantee Center and discovering all the opportunities they provide. Whether you're seeking guidance, a free space to relax, or just curious about new experiences, they have something for everyone.

What Is Youth Coffee Lab?

Youth Coffee Lab (청년커피랩) is an incredible initiative supporting young entrepreneurs passionate about coffee. This program offers a unique opportunity for youth to run their own café for one year, providing hands-on experience in the competitive world of coffee entrepreneurship. Selected participants receive mentoring and operational guidance, and here's the most exciting part—if they eventually decide to start their own business, the rental fees they paid during the program are returned to them as startup capital.

Now in its fifth year, Youth Coffee Lab continues to nurture skilled and innovative café entrepreneurs by offering practical, real-world training in coffee business management. It's heartwarming to know that by enjoying their drip bag coffee, I'm supporting a program that empowers young dreamers to achieve their goals.

I’m grateful for this thoughtful gift and, more importantly, for the programs like these that support and inspire young people to chase their dreams.
