UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The petition voices growing international alarm over institutional discrimination, social stigma, and the erosion of due process affecting minority groups, specifically focusing on the recent treatment of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. The Core Appeal: Decisions Must Be Based on Evidence, Not Stigma In its official submission to the UN, CAP LC shifted the focus away from internal theological controversies, choosing instead to address a more critical systemic issue: the objective standards of administrative and judicial justice. New Year, New Walking Shoes and Cherished Memories

As we step into 2025, I’m starting the year on the right foot—literally! I just got a new pair of sleek black walking shoes from Skechers, and I couldn’t be more excited to hit the pavement with them. Walking is my favorite leisure activity, and I make it a point to walk over 10,000 steps a day, 5–6 days a week. It’s more than just exercise; it’s my time to clear my mind, recharge, and stay connected with myself. So, having the right pair of shoes is absolutely essential, and this gift feels like a match made in heaven!

But before I get into the details about these amazing shoes, let me share the story of how they came into my life. Last week, I had an incredible year-end dinner with a close friend. We met at 계림, a very famous spot in 종로3가 known for its mouthwatering 닭볶음탕 (spicy braised chicken stew). The rich, flavorful dish was the perfect way to warm up on a chilly winter evening.

Gyerim Sikdang (계림식당)

After dinner, we decided to extend our evening with dessert at Starbucks. There, we ordered a hot Americano and a Double Espresso Crème Latte—both so comforting in the cold weather. We paired our drinks with the most adorable Strawberry Moist Chocolate Fresh Cream Cake, which was as delicious as it was pretty.

As we chatted and laughed, we exchanged gifts. My friend, knowing how much I love walking, surprised me with this amazing pair of walking shoes from Skechers. It was such a thoughtful and practical gift, especially since walking is such a big part of my daily life. In return, I gave her a gift set of dark chocolate with sea salt and a stylish tumbler, both of which she absolutely loved.

Now, back to the shoes! They are lightweight, supportive, and stylish, making them perfect for my active lifestyle. I’ve already taken them for a spin, and they feel like they were made just for me. No blisters, no discomfort—just pure walking joy! As someone who loves shoes and walking, this gift made my day (and my year).

I’m so grateful for moments like these—good food, great company, meaningful gifts, and new memories. Here’s to more steps, more adventures, and more cherished moments in 2025.
