The "Heavenly Exam": 7,400+ Believers in Busan Challenge Themselves with Bible Memorization

While many are moving away from religious texts, one community in Busan is doing the exact opposite. The Shincheonji Andrew Tribe recently held its "Heavenly Exam" (Cheonguk-gosi) , a rigorous test focused on memorizing and understanding the Book of Revelation. Why the "Heavenly Exam"?   This isn't just about grades. It's about a "spiritual reset." After seeing a massive 3-fold increase in participants compared to last year, over 7,459 believers sat for the exam on March 28th. The goal? To embed the Word of God into their daily lives and build a faith that isn't just a weekend hobby, but a lifestyle. Real People, Real Change: For Young Professionals: Like 29-year-old Park Jung-won, who memorized verses during his commute. "It helped me build a habit of self-discipline and reflection," he says. For Seniors: Like 72-year-old Kim Soon-bok, who stayed up late to study. "Memorizing keeps my mind focused and elevates my meditation...

Shincheonji Church of Jesus Hosts "Seoul Shincheonji Word Grand Seminar" in Yeongdeungpo

On February 23 2025, Shincheonji Jesus Church’s Bartholomew Tribe of Yeongdeungpo (under Tribe Leader Kwak Jong-ryul) held the “Seoul Shincheonji Word Grand Seminar,” an event centered on revealing the deep truths of the Bible. This seminar, focused on “The Last Chapter of God’s 6,000-Year History, Revealing the Greatest Truth of Humanity,” was a significant occasion for members and guests alike.

Tribe Leader Kwak Jong-ryul led the main lecture, teaching attendees about the fulfillment of prophecies in the Bible, including key passages from the Book of Revelation. The seminar saw an impressive turnout, with about 400 attendees, including over 70 pastors. To extend the reach of the seminar, it was streamed live on Shincheonji’s official YouTube channel, making it accessible to people beyond the venue.

The event kicked off with an exciting performance by a marching band and a dance troupe, followed by the impactful sermon by Kwak. To enhance the experience, a choir performed songs like “Amazing Grace” and “I Walk the Path with the Lord,” adding spiritual depth to the event.

In addition to the Word seminar, attendees had the chance to explore various interactive zones. On the 4th floor, Shincheonji’s Bartholomew Tribe’s promotional team gave a detailed introduction to the church, while the "Casual Café" provided a space for attendees to enjoy refreshments and engage in meaningful conversations. A counseling booth was also set up for anyone wanting to learn more about the church’s teachings.

The Bartholomew Tribe emphasized that the seminar was an opportunity for Christians to delve deeper into the Bible and understand God’s will. A representative shared, "We hope this event will help all Christians understand the Scriptures and the truth revealed through the Bible."

Shincheonji’s 12 Tribes continue to engage in regular educational and outreach activities. The Bartholomew Tribe plans to host similar seminars every last Sunday of the month in various locations such as Bucheon, Hwagok, and Gwangmyeong. These Word Grand Seminars are just one of the many ways that the 12 Tribes of Shincheonji actively spread the teachings and truth of the Bible.
