"Running Together, Living Together": Shincheonji Couple Found the True Meaning of Partnership on the Football Pitch

In celebration of "Married Couples' Day" in South Korea (May 21st), a unique love story from the Matthias Tribe Daejeon Church of Shincheonji is shedding light on what it truly means to walk through life as a team. For this particular husband and wife, the secrets to a harmonious marriage weren't found in a textbook, but rather on the football pitch and through their shared spiritual journey. A Match Made on the Pitch The couple's story began where they both feel most at home: the football field. The husband (referred to as A), a former professional football player in Thailand, returned to South Korea for injury treatment and tryouts. It was at a local football gathering in Daejeon that he met his future wife (B). While B had been practicing her faith at the Shincheonji Daejeon Church since 2006, A naturally joined her in 2015 after learning the Bible's teachings. Faith Grows Through Education: Shincheonji Seoul James Tribe Leads Change with Systematic Bible Study

At the Seoul James Tribe Church of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, located in Nowon-gu, Seoul, faith is not just about attending services—it is about learning, understanding, and applying the Bible. Even on weekend mornings, the church’s education center is filled with members deeply engaged in structured Bible study.

As the instructor speaks, attendees diligently take notes, highlight key passages, and capture insights on their smartphones. The room is alive with concentration, with some nodding in agreement and others responding with heartfelt “Amen.”

A Structured Program for Spiritual Growth

The education program at Shincheonji Seoul James Tribe is not a one-time event but a continuous journey. With over 152 educational sessions held annually, members can actively enroll and participate in step-by-step, topic-based studies to deepen their understanding of the Bible.

Programs like the ‘10-Minute Speech,’ ‘Bible Study Test,’ and ‘Revelation Memorization Campaign’ encourage members to explore scripture and articulate their faith. These activities go beyond acquiring knowledge—they help members incorporate biblical teachings into their daily lives.

Jang Mi-sook (55), a participant in the memorization campaign, reflected, “This was not just about memorizing scripture but about deeply contemplating its meaning. During the COVID-19 period, my passion for faith dwindled, but memorizing God’s Word reignited my spiritual motivation.”

Church as a Place for Learning and Action

Shincheonji Church of Jesus believes that churches should serve as places of education and practical application of faith. Through structured learning, members not only grow in knowledge but also strengthen their community and social responsibility. By embodying Jesus’ love, they actively engage in service and positively impact those around them.

New Kisu, the head of Seoul James Tribe, emphasized, “The role of the church is to help believers correctly understand the Bible, live a faith that leads to heaven, and practice what they have received. While many churches face decline, Shincheonji Church continues to grow because of its thorough and systematic education. Our goal is to nurture a faith that is not just heard but lived.”

Transforming Lives Through Revelation Education

Kim Min-jeong (32) shared how studying the Book of Revelation changed her life. “I used to prefer solitude and avoided socializing, but through Bible study, I realized that just as God loves people, I, too, should build relationships.”

She continued, “Now, I participate in church volunteer work and make an effort to connect with others. Studying the Word has also strengthened my bond with my parents, inspiring me to give back the love I have received. Despite the challenges of society, I now live each day with God’s strength.”

As faith flourishes through education, Shincheonji Seoul James Tribe continues to stand out as a model of spiritual growth, demonstrating that true belief is not just in words, but in action.
