Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church), led by Chairman Lee Man-hee, has achieved a significant milestone by being officially registered as a religion in Ethiopia. This recognition strengthens the church’s presence in Africa and highlights its growing international influence.

Ethiopian Government Grants Official Religious Status

The registration process began on March 28, 2024, when the church initiated the necessary steps to be formally recognized. Over several months, church members underwent identity verification, documentation review, and submission of official paperwork. By September 2024, the required documents were submitted to the Ethiopian government, and by December 17, 2024, the government issued an official certification acknowledging Shincheonji Church as a recognized religious entity.

A Strengthened Presence in Africa

With this recognition, Shincheonji Church has now established a legal and religious foundation within Ethiopia’s national system. The final approval in March 2025 marks an important step in expanding Shincheonji’s mission across the African continent.

A church representative stated, “This recognition enhances Shincheonji’s international standing and solidifies our commitment to working alongside local communities. We will continue to fulfill our role as an officially recognized religious institution in Ethiopia.”

Shincheonji Church’s presence continues to grow worldwide, with its teachings and mission gaining recognition in various countries. This recent milestone in Ethiopia further demonstrates the church’s dedication to spreading the teachings of the Bible and contributing positively to communities around the world.

The official registration in Ethiopia signifies a bright future for Shincheonji Church as it continues to share its message and faith on a global scale.
