International Concern Grows Over South Korea's Detention of 95-Year-Old Religious Leader

The recent detention and prosecution of Chairman Lee Man-hee, the 95-year-old leader of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, has sparked intense scrutiny from international human rights and religious freedom organizations. Legal experts and sociologists worldwide are raising critical questions regarding South Korea’s adherence to global human rights standards and the principle of state neutrality. The Controversy Surrounding the Detention On June 24, 2026, South Korean authorities took Chairman Lee into custody on charges related to the Political Parties Act, followed by a formal indictment on June 30. Prosecutors allege that between July 2021 and January 2024, the church organized the enrollment of approximately 50,000 members into the ruling People Power Party (PPP) to influence internal primaries. However, the legal dispute does not center on party membership itself, but on whether coercion was involved. While prosecutors allege a forced campaign, Shincheonji Church maintains that all p...

Life and Salvation Are in the Word of God

On May 21, 2025, a powerful Bible seminar was held in Busan, South Korea. The speaker was Chairman Man Hee Lee of Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Over 4,000 people, including pastors, students, and journalists, gathered to listen to the Word.

“Look at Yourself Through the Bible”

Chairman Lee began his message with Luke 18:8 — “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” He explained that God has worked for 6,000 years to save people. But just like in Jesus' first coming, many today don’t truly understand God’s Word.

He challenged the audience:

“Before judging others as heretics, ask yourself: Do I really live by the Bible?

Revelation Is Being Fulfilled Today

The focus of the seminar was the Book of Revelation. Chairman Lee said that Revelation is not a book to be feared or avoided. Instead, it is being fulfilled now, and we must understand and keep it — just as it says in Revelation 22:18-19.

“If you add or take away from Revelation, you cannot enter heaven,” he said.
“We must become new through the Word.”

Who Am I According to Revelation?

Chairman Lee asked everyone to reflect:

“Am I one of the people mentioned in Revelation? Where do I belong?”

He explained that only the Word of life can truly change a person. And the 12 tribes of Shincheonji — created according to Revelation — are the place where God's throne is with His people (Revelation 7, 14).

A Message for All Pastors

Many pastors in attendance were deeply moved. One pastor, with 20 years of ministry experience, said:

“I was ashamed. We haven’t been teaching the Bible clearly. Now I want to study the Word here in Shincheonji.”

Chairman Lee urged pastors to examine the testimonies given through YouTube and Shincheonji’s official channels.

“If something is wrong, point it out with the Bible. If not, shouldn’t we accept the truth?”

One Message, Many Changed Hearts

The seminar wasn't just about teaching — it was about transformation. One participant said:

“In other churches, I never understood the Bible like this. Now I know where I belong — Shincheonji.”

Under the slogan “When we are united, all things succeed,” the Busan Andre Tribe is working hard to guide believers to be the true light in this world.

A Clear Invitation to the World

The Bible seminar showed once again that true faith begins with understanding the Word. Shincheonji continues to hold seminars and events, so anyone can come, listen, and judge based on the Bible.

“Life and salvation are not in people’s words, but in God’s Word. Let’s return to the Bible and be reborn.”
