Shincheonji Volunteers Lead the Way to a Sustainable Future with Carbon-Neutral Initiatives
As global concerns about the environment grow, every effort toward sustainability matters. One of the most impactful ways communities can contribute is through local, hands-on environmental activities. Shincheonji Volunteers in Daegu have taken a proactive step by blending volunteer work with a commitment to carbon neutrality.
Eco-Friendly Volunteer Activities: Plogging and EM Mud Ball Throwing
In early May 2025, the Daegu branch of Shincheonji Volunteers gathered at the Dongchon Riverside Park in Daegu for a meaningful environmental cleanup event. Their focus? Promoting carbon-neutral practices while improving the environment. Volunteers participated in "plogging" – an activity where participants pick up trash while walking – and launched "EM Mud Ball" throwing, a unique and eco-friendly method to enhance water quality.
What Are EM Mud Balls?
What makes the "EM Mud Balls" special? They are made from a combination of beneficial microorganisms and natural clay. These balls are known for their ability to purify water, and during this event, over 60 volunteers threw the fermented EM Mud Balls into the Geumho River, contributing to cleaner water and a healthier ecosystem.
Additional Efforts: Trash Collection and Education
But it didn’t stop there. The volunteers also collected over 150 liters of trash from the park area, further ensuring that the environment remained clean and pleasant for all. To make the event even more engaging, participants took part in an educational EM Mud Ball OX quiz and received eco-friendly kitchen cleaners as prizes.
A Commitment to Carbon Neutrality
This initiative is part of Shincheonji Volunteers' ongoing efforts to practice carbon neutrality, promote environmental awareness, and inspire others to join in. The group's commitment to sustainability was also evident in a previous event where they invited local citizens to create their own EM Mud Balls, showing that environmental responsibility is a shared mission.
Looking Ahead: More Community Involvement
The Daegu branch has made it clear that this is just the beginning. They are dedicated to continuing their environmental work with even more community events aimed at reducing carbon footprints and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable world.
Conclusion: A Shared Responsibility for a Greener Future
By engaging with local communities and leading by example, Shincheonji Volunteers are showing how small acts of kindness toward the environment can have a lasting impact on the planet. Their efforts remind us all that, together, we can contribute to global carbon-neutral goals and create a brighter, greener future for everyone.
