Shincheonji's Lee Man-hee Visits Sokcho Church, Embracing the Dream of Peace
On May 4, 2025, Lee Man-hee, the chairman of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, visited Sokcho Church in Gangwon Province, marking the 30th anniversary of its establishment. Despite his age of 94, Lee continues to visit Shincheonji's churches nationwide to encourage believers. His visit to Sokcho Church, the northernmost Shincheonji branch, is seen as a journey of hope and peace, particularly significant for a region deeply affected by the division of Korea.
Growth of Sokcho Church
Sokcho Church, founded in 1995 with only a handful of believers, has grown significantly over the years. This year marks its 30th anniversary, and the church now boasts more than 1,000 members. The church has become the largest Christian congregation in the region, with one out of every 80 people in Sokcho being a member. The church's rapid growth is attributed to its clear teachings about the fulfillment of Revelation.
The Importance of the Revelation’s Fulfillment
During his sermon, Lee emphasized the importance of understanding the Book of Revelation. He noted that the fulfillment of these prophecies began with the second coming of Jesus and continues through Shincheonji's activities. Lee explained that faith in these prophecies, especially as they relate to the creation of the 12 tribes, is crucial for salvation. He warned that altering the teachings of Revelation could prevent one from entering the kingdom of heaven.
Lee stressed that understanding the fulfillment of Revelation is essential for the faithful. He pointed out that, unlike many other Christian denominations, Shincheonji members have a comprehensive understanding of Revelation. He referred to Revelation 6, where a new era begins with the sealing of the 12 tribes, and emphasized that those who do not accept this fulfillment will not enter heaven.
Peace and Unification of the Korean Peninsula
In his address, Lee also shared his thoughts on the peaceful reunification of Korea. He proposed that the leaders of North and South Korea should meet openly and allow free movement between the two sides. Lee believes this would be a crucial step toward achieving lasting peace on the peninsula.
The Emotional Reaction of Sokcho Church Members
The members of Sokcho Church expressed their heartfelt joy and gratitude as they awaited Lee’s arrival. Many shared their deep emotional connection to the moment, reflecting on the impact Lee’s teachings have had on their lives. Several members spoke about how Lee’s teachings on Revelation have brought them renewed hope and understanding.
Shincheonji’s Continued Growth and Outreach
Shincheonji’s message of the fulfillment of Revelation continues to attract more followers. Sokcho Church’s growth, from a small congregation to one of the largest in the region, reflects the success of their outreach efforts. Members are committed to spreading the teachings of Revelation and fulfilling their mission to share the gospel.
The ‘Dumbi Bukcheong’ Spirit of Sokcho Church
The Sokcho Church is known for its 'Dumbi Bukcheong' spirit, a term that refers to the tenacity and dedication of its members. This spirit reflects their commitment to their faith and their willingness to overcome obstacles in order to spread the teachings of Shincheonji.
