"Running Together, Living Together": Shincheonji Couple Found the True Meaning of Partnership on the Football Pitch

In celebration of "Married Couples' Day" in South Korea (May 21st), a unique love story from the Matthias Tribe Daejeon Church of Shincheonji is shedding light on what it truly means to walk through life as a team. For this particular husband and wife, the secrets to a harmonious marriage weren't found in a textbook, but rather on the football pitch and through their shared spiritual journey. A Match Made on the Pitch The couple's story began where they both feel most at home: the football field. The husband (referred to as A), a former professional football player in Thailand, returned to South Korea for injury treatment and tryouts. It was at a local football gathering in Daejeon that he met his future wife (B). While B had been practicing her faith at the Shincheonji Daejeon Church since 2006, A naturally joined her in 2015 after learning the Bible's teachings. A Breath of Fresh Joy in the Summer Heat: “Life Bus 9010” Festival in Gwangju

Shincheonji Gwangju Church’s summer cultural event brings cool comfort to over 1,500 citizens

As scorching heat and tropical nights sweep across Korea, many find themselves worn out from the relentless weather. But on July 12, something refreshing happened in Gwangju: a summer performance titled “Life Bus 9010” brought cool joy, laughter, and heartfelt emotion to the community, drawing more than 1,500 citizens to the main sanctuary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Gwangju Peter Tribe.

This event was part of the ongoing Love Flower Festival, which has already touched over 8,000 Gwangju citizens this year through its lively and creative performances.

A Wave of Energy and Emotion

Despite outdoor temperatures soaring to 35°C, the venue remained cool and inviting as the stage opened with youthful energy. Cheerleading, dance, and a surf-themed performance—complete with a 2-meter surfboard and dynamic wave visuals—instantly captivated the audience.

One of the most memorable moments was the “basket toss” acrobatic stunt, where a female performer spun mid-air and was caught precisely by her teammates. Gasps and cheers echoed through the room as each performance built upon the last.

The program creatively followed the journey of life, likened to stops at a bus station—from youth to old age—woven together with musical theater, orchestra, traditional Korean music, trot, and even Korean dance. The audience responded with applause and heartfelt enthusiasm, creating a sense of unity throughout the evening.

A Healing Space for All Ages

Outside the performance hall, the festival atmosphere continued. Visitors enjoyed beautifully themed photo zones featuring tall metasequoia trees and tropical beach elements like palm trees and parasols. A hands-on booth offered a DIY gel ice pack experience, giving participants something fun and practical to take home during the summer heat.

A Message of Hope and Community

A representative from Shincheonji Gwangju Church shared:

“We hope this festival brought even a small moment of relief and comfort to those tired from the heat. As a church that believes in the fulfilled Word of the Bible and the testimony of the promised pastor, we strive to live as light and salt in the community.”

The church emphasized its continued commitment to outreach through cultural and volunteer programs, offering future opportunities for communication, care, and joy within the local society.
