In a time when misunderstanding or social prejudice can cloud public perception, it's more important than ever to look beyond assumptions and see the real actions of people. Shincheonji Church of Jesus has continued to serve quietly—with sincerity, consistency, and love. Through efforts like disaster relief, environmental cleanup, and nationwide blood donation, their commitment to life and compassion offers a hopeful example of faith in action.

This commitment was especially visible during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when fear and uncertainty filled the streets and blood supplies were running low, members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus quietly rolled up their sleeves—not just to comfort their neighbors, but to save lives through nationwide blood donation.

A Church Responding to Crisis with Life

In the early days of the pandemic, blood shortages became a serious national issue. Social distancing and fear of infection caused many to cancel appointments, leaving hospitals in desperate need. That’s when Shincheonji Church launched a nationwide blood donation campaign, encouraging members to give what they could: their blood, their time, and their love.

Under the guidance of Chairman Man Hee Lee, who emphasized the teaching of Jesus to give life to others, church members embraced blood donation as a direct and practical way to live out their faith. From 2020 to 2024, nearly 190,000 members participated, and donations helped produce Korea’s first COVID-19 treatment vaccine. In one campaign alone, over 96,000 people joined—an unprecedented scale.

Breaking Records, Giving Hope

In 2022, the youth volunteer group "We Are One" stunned the world by registering 71,121 online blood donors in 24 hours, breaking the Guinness World Record. It wasn’t just a number; it was a symbol of how faith, when put into action, can change the world. This broke the previous record by more than seven times.

Shincheonji also holds Korea Records Institute certifications for the largest group donation and the highest number of donated blood certificates—over 32,000 blood donation cards given to hospitals and organizations supporting children with cancer and others in need.


Campaigns that Continue

This summer, the church has launched another large-scale campaign from July 27 to October 18, a time when blood donations usually drop due to vacations and holidays. The goal: 10,000 donors. Mobile donation buses, online registration tools, and youth-led challenges are helping make donation more accessible and engaging, especially for younger generations.

Beyond Donation: A Culture of Giving

Shincheonji’s blood drives are not just about medical need; they represent a culture of giving back. In the past four years, the value of donated blood cards exceeded 1 billion KRW, all directed to support low-income patients, scholarships, and emergency relief.

Church members continue to receive public recognition. Chairman Lee recently received a commendation from the Korean Red Cross for his leadership and long-term commitment to blood donation, while local church branches and youth groups have been awarded for their consistent efforts.

Love in Action

When others hesitated, Shincheonji stepped forward. Their story is not about numbers, but about people. Each donation represents a life touched, a burden lifted, and a quiet testimony to the power of love in action.
