UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The petition voices growing international alarm over institutional discrimination, social stigma, and the erosion of due process affecting minority groups, specifically focusing on the recent treatment of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Shincheonji Daegu Church Signs Historic MOU for Gospel Partnership with Presbyterian Churches

Paving the way for next-generation faith leaders and sincere regional evangelism

On July 14, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony – Daegu Church (Thaddeus Tribe) took a meaningful step toward unity in faith and mission. A formal memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Shincheonji Daegu Church and several Presbyterian churches in the Daegu area, aiming to cooperate on gospel work and raise up future spiritual leaders.

The signing ceremony was held in the 8th-floor main sanctuary of the Daegu Church, and representatives from both sides joined together in prayer and mutual respect, marking the start of a new chapter in inter-church collaboration.

Beyond Denominations, Toward the Gospel

This partnership is being celebrated as a first step toward cross-denominational cooperation, centered on Bible-based education and a shared vision of community evangelism.

According to the agreement, both parties will:

  • Support each other in Bible education and share related materials

  • Open opportunities for pastoral fellowship and provide emotional and material support

  • Cooperate in promoting each other’s activities and protect their mutual interests

  • Collaborate and invite one another to events, seminars, and programs

With a shared goal of delivering the gospel to the local community sincerely and effectively, both sides are preparing to launch various cooperative efforts.

Continuing the Spirit of Unity

This MOU follows earlier efforts by Shincheonji Daegu Church, including last year’s Daegu Evangelism Grand Bible Seminar and this year’s ongoing Open House program, which have fostered deeper inter-church dialogue and trust.

The church emphasized its continued commitment to exploring the true meaning of the book of Revelation, with the hope of contributing to the restoration and unity of the Korean Church beyond denominational boundaries.

A Church That Shares Christ’s Love

Kim Su-jin, the head of Shincheonji Daegu Church, expressed heartfelt expectations:

“This partnership is a precious connection led by heaven. I sincerely hope our churches will continue to work together—spiritually and practically—to share the love of Jesus with our local community.”

As churches come together with open hearts and clear purpose, this initiative shines as an example of faith in action and unity in the Word.
