"Running Together, Living Together": Shincheonji Couple Found the True Meaning of Partnership on the Football Pitch

In celebration of "Married Couples' Day" in South Korea (May 21st), a unique love story from the Matthias Tribe Daejeon Church of Shincheonji is shedding light on what it truly means to walk through life as a team. For this particular husband and wife, the secrets to a harmonious marriage weren't found in a textbook, but rather on the football pitch and through their shared spiritual journey. A Match Made on the Pitch The couple's story began where they both feel most at home: the football field. The husband (referred to as A), a former professional football player in Thailand, returned to South Korea for injury treatment and tryouts. It was at a local football gathering in Daejeon that he met his future wife (B). While B had been practicing her faith at the Shincheonji Daejeon Church since 2006, A naturally joined her in 2015 after learning the Bible's teachings. For both, the Word-centered faith—which strictly emphasizes love and harmony—became the bedrock ...

Caring for Seniors: Gusan Branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group Promotes Health and Summer Safety

On August 8, 2025, the Gusan Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group visited the Wonnapo Senior Center in Napomyeon, Gunsan City, to provide tailored health services for the elderly, focusing on vascular age checks and heat illness prevention education.

Personalized Support for Senior Health

More than 20 seniors attended the session, which aimed to protect the health of older adults who are especially vulnerable to extreme summer heat. Volunteers conducted vascular age measurements to help participants better understand their cardiovascular health, followed by an educational session on how to prevent heat-related illnesses.

To encourage hydration, the team donated two boxes of bottled water and advised seniors on the importance of drinking plenty of fluids during hot weather.

A Warm and Refreshing Gathering

The event wasn’t just about health checks—it was also a chance to connect. Volunteers shared ice cream and watermelon with attendees, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere in the usually quiet village.

“I’ve been feeling stifled in this heat, but today’s laughter and conversation made me feel refreshed. It’s been a long time since our village felt this lively,” shared Ms. Jeong Bok-rye (82, alias), one of the participants.

One volunteer reflected,

“Even though it was our first time meeting, the seniors welcomed us like family. Seeing their bright smiles made me truly happy. I hope they all have a healthy summer.”

Expanding Acts of Service

According to a branch representative, the visit was prepared with the hope of caring for seniors vulnerable to heat and giving them a moment of rest and joy. The branch plans to return to the senior center in the future to continue health monitoring and friendly visits.

This activity follows the “Healthy Summer Campaign” on August 4, when the Gusan Branch distributed 1,000 bottles of ice water at locations such as the Gunsan Intercity Bus Terminal, Lotte Mart, residential complexes, and near local hospitals.

Committed to Community Well-being

Looking ahead, the Gusan Branch plans to carry out more community-focused volunteer projects, including another ice water distribution event on August 22, visits to senior centers, and a mural painting initiative—continuing their mission to improve the well-being of citizens from all walks of life.
