Shincheonji Tanzania Church Hosts Revelation Bible Test with Local Pastors and Members
The Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, Peter Tribe, Tanzania Church (led by Pastor Yoon Hyun-chul) held a public Bible test on the book of Revelation together with local Protestant pastors and Shincheonji congregation members across major cities in Tanzania.
A First for Overseas Participation
The exam, titled “Revelation Open Bible Test”, was designed to help believers examine their faith against Revelation 22:18–19, which warns against adding to or subtracting from the Word, and to reflect on whether they have kept the Word of God as written.
The test consisted of 10 main questions and 33 sub-questions, all focused on the book of Revelation. A total of 138 participants took part, including 98 local Protestant pastors and 40 Shincheonji members.
This marks the first time that a large number of overseas pastors have participated in such a test, compared to a similar event held last year in Korea where only one traditional church pastor took part among 313 examinees.
Results and Reflections
According to Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the average scores differed significantly: Shincheonji members averaged 95 points, while Protestant pastors averaged 7 points. However, organizers emphasized that the purpose of the test was not competition, but personal reflection—encouraging participants to examine whether their faith truly aligns with the words of Revelation.
One participating pastor commented:
“Seeing Shincheonji members confidently answer without hesitation made me reflect on my own faith and duty as a pastor. I plan to study Revelation through the Shincheonji Zion Christian Mission Center and guide my congregation properly toward the path of God and heaven.”
Continuing Emphasis on Revelation
Chairman Man Hee Lee of Shincheonji Church of Jesus has consistently stressed that believers must not add to or subtract from the words of Revelation, pointing to Revelation 22:18–19 as the standard for entering heaven. He has also reiterated that the distinction between truth and falsehood, orthodoxy and heresy, lies only in Scripture—not in tradition or human doctrine.
Growth of Shincheonji Tanzania Church
Since its establishment in 2018, Shincheonji Tanzania Church has steadily grown. As of August 2025, approximately 2,440 members are practicing their faith there. The church continues to expand Bible-centered exchanges with local pastors to strengthen scriptural understanding and spiritual growth.
A Shincheonji representative added:
“The Bible test is not simply a knowledge assessment. It is about confirming whether one’s faith is grounded in the Word of God. We are grateful to see more pastors, both domestically and internationally, joining step by step. We look forward to broader exchanges centered on Scripture.”
Shincheonji has proposed, on multiple occasions, to hold an open Bible test before all people, based on the standard of Revelation. #ShincheonjiChurch
