UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). We Are One Incheon Youth Group Launches “Relay Blood Donation Bus” to Overcome Summer Blood Shortages

The youth volunteer group We Are One (위아원) Incheon Regional Association has stepped up to address Korea’s seasonal blood shortage crisis by launching a Relay Blood Donation Bus Campaign. The campaign began on July 27 and will run until October 18, 2025, with a goal of mobilizing 600 blood donors in Incheon and 10,000 nationwide.

First Blood Drive at Bupyeong Park

On August 14, one day before Korea’s Independence Day (광복절), the Incheon branch kicked off its first group donation at Bupyeong Park. Members not only gave blood but also participated in a Taegukgi (Korean flag) handprint activity to honor the national holiday.

Relay Blood Donation Across Incheon

The relay campaign involves seven sub-branches including Incheon, Seo-Incheon, and Mansu, operating blood donation buses every Friday for four consecutive weeks. The initiative includes:

  • On-site blood donations through the bus

  • RedConnect app promotion to encourage digital participation

  • Community awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of regular blood donations

Addressing Summer Blood Shortages

Summer vacation season often leads to a decline in blood supply, creating challenges for hospitals and patients in need. According to Kim Young-seop, head of the Korean Red Cross Incheon Blood Center, campaigns like this play a vital role in stabilizing the blood supply. He praised the youth-driven efforts of We Are One, noting that their voluntary spirit helps spread a culture of sharing in society.

Achievements So Far

Within just three weeks, the Incheon Regional Association has already secured 180 blood donors, demonstrating strong community engagement and paving the way toward reaching their 600-donor goal.

The We Are One Blood Donation Relay Campaign in Incheon showcases the power of youth volunteerism and collective action. By linking community service with national pride, the group is setting an example of how young people can make a real impact on public health and social unity.
