We Are One Youth Volunteer Group Expands Life-Saving Blood Donation Relay
On August 27, 2025, the Seoul Central Blood Center announced that a total of 102 people participated in a blood donation relay campaign organized by the youth volunteer group We Are One, helping stabilize the blood supply during the peak summer shortage.
Part of the Nationwide “We Are Red” Campaign
The initiative was carried out as part of the ongoing 2025 We Are Red Second-Half Blood Donation Campaign, which began on July 27. Launched to address declining donor numbers during the rainy season, extreme heat, and summer holidays, the campaign focuses on securing a stable blood reserve across Korea.
Over the course of about one month, in the Seoul western area and the cities of Goyang and Paju alone, a total of 868 volunteers donated blood, highlighting the strong community impact of the campaign.
Ensuring Safe and Orderly Donation
At the We Are One Volunteer Center in Goyang on August 24, the Seoul Central Blood Center supported the drive by deploying two mobile blood buses and medical professionals, ensuring that electronic questionnaires, examinations, and blood collection were conducted in a safe and orderly manner.
A Seoul Central Blood Center representative explained:
“Summer is the most difficult season for blood donations, as participation rates fall drastically. Group efforts and community involvement are crucial to securing stable supplies. The voluntary relay donations by We Are One youth serve as an important pillar for sustaining a reliable blood supply.”
Voices from the Campaign
One participating volunteer shared,
“I felt a deep sense of fulfillment knowing that a single donation could save someone’s life. I want to continue donating regularly and contribute to the culture of life-sharing.”
Building a Culture of Life-Sharing
Beyond simply meeting blood supply needs, the campaign is viewed as a symbolic example of how the younger generation is taking the lead in promoting solidarity and the value of sharing within society.
Both the Seoul Central Blood Center and We Are One emphasized their commitment to continue expanding youth participation and spreading a lasting culture of blood donation throughout the wider community.

This is an unprecedented life-giving service and sacrifice made by the members of #ShincheonjiChurch in Korea. In the UK, the National Health Service (NHS) has issued an appeal for one million donors to come forward to give blood and alleviate the current blood shortage. Let's emulate the example here in the UK 🩸
