Shincheonji Simon Tribe Bible Semina Draws 1,500 Pastors and Believers
On September 6, 2025, the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, Simon Tribe (led by Tribe Leader Lee Seung-ju), held a large-scale Word Seminar at Hwa-jeong Church in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The event, part of Shincheonji’s nationwide series of Revelation seminars, drew more than 1,500 pastors and believers both onsite and online.
Revelation: Not a Book of Mystery, But a Promise
Delivering the keynote lecture, Tribe Leader Lee Seung-ju emphasized that Revelation is not simply a mysterious book but the promised Word testified by Jesus himself.
Quoting Revelation 22:18–19, he warned that adding to or taking away from the prophecy brings judgment. Lee explained that today is the era of fulfillment, when believers must learn from the “promised pastor” — the messenger who has directly seen and heard the events of Revelation’s fulfillment — in order to fully understand the Bible.
As part of his teaching, he offered detailed explanations of the three mysteries recorded in Revelation (the seven stars and seven golden lampstands, the beast with seven heads and ten horns, and the seventh trumpet) and the three types of judgments (seals, trumpets, and bowls).
Pastors Rethink Their Assumptions
Several attending pastors acknowledged that the seminar corrected long-held misunderstandings about Shincheonji.
One pastor admitted, “For years, many in the church world claimed that Shincheonji teaches Chairman Lee Man-hee is Jesus, but I confirmed today that this is not true. From the perspective of biblical redemption history, there is nothing problematic here.”
Another pastor who had previously closed his mind said, “Twenty years ago, I briefly studied at Zion Christian Mission Center but left because of doubts about the relationship between Jesus and Chairman Lee. Looking back, I regret labeling Shincheonji as heretical without verifying. I want to learn properly this time.”
Others expressed that their negative perceptions had shifted, and pledged to continue participating in future seminars while maintaining regular exchanges of the Word.
Toward Broader Cooperation
One pastor with 40 years of ministry experience commented, “I’ve engaged in interfaith activities with many denominations, but something always felt lacking. By fully learning Revelation at the Center, I hope to contribute to uniting all religions ‘in the truth.’”
Another pastor, active in a Protestant alliance group, added, “Through this seminar, I found no doctrinal issues. I plan to sign an MOU with Shincheonji soon and connect my congregations so they too can study Revelation.”
A Call for Dialogue
A Simon Tribe representative concluded, “Shincheonji testifies not only to the meaning of biblical prophecies, including Revelation, but also to their fulfillment. Anyone with questions is welcome to ask and engage in open dialogue, so that together we can build a cooperative church community.”
With growing participation and openness among pastors, the Simon Tribe seminar highlighted a significant shift in attitudes toward Shincheonji and its testimony on Revelation.
