International Concern Grows Over South Korea's Detention of 95-Year-Old Religious Leader

The recent detention and prosecution of Chairman Lee Man-hee, the 95-year-old leader of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, has sparked intense scrutiny from international human rights and religious freedom organizations. Legal experts and sociologists worldwide are raising critical questions regarding South Korea’s adherence to global human rights standards and the principle of state neutrality. The Controversy Surrounding the Detention On June 24, 2026, South Korean authorities took Chairman Lee into custody on charges related to the Political Parties Act, followed by a formal indictment on June 30. Prosecutors allege that between July 2021 and January 2024, the church organized the enrollment of approximately 50,000 members into the ruling People Power Party (PPP) to influence internal primaries. However, the legal dispute does not center on party membership itself, but on whether coercion was involved. While prosecutors allege a forced campaign, Shincheonji Church maintains that all p...

Shincheonji Andre Tribe Holds Special Lecture for Pastors in Busan and Gyeongnam

“God’s will and purpose are revealed through the Book of Revelation.”

On October 24, the Andre Tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus held a special lecture for pastors at the Busan Andre Training Center under the theme “God’s Will and Purpose.”
The event gathered around 70 pastors from the Busan and Gyeongnam regions to explore the true meaning of God’s will recorded in Scripture and what believers must uphold in the time of the Second Coming.

The program began with a harmonica performance and praise session, followed by a presentation of visual media and a main lecture delivered by Tribe Leader Lee Jeong-woo.

Lee emphasized that “God’s purpose is written in the Bible, and His will is revealed through the Book of Revelation.” He added, “Understanding the prophecy and fulfillment of Revelation is the key to salvation.”

Core Messages of the Lecture

During his address, Lee summarized the core of Revelation into three main points:

  1. Adding to or subtracting from the words of Revelation prevents entry into heaven.

  2. No one in the world has fully understood Revelation until now.

  3. There is one person who knows and testifies to it fully — the promised shepherd appointed by God, through whom the path of salvation is made clear.

He further explained that Revelation cannot be interpreted by human thought or doctrine, but only through the shepherd chosen by God.
“Now is the time when Revelation is being fulfilled,” he said, “and blessed are those who see and hear the realities of the fulfilled Word. I hope all pastors and believers will confirm the Word with open hearts and take part in the work where God’s will is accomplished.”

Pastors Respond with Insight and Appreciation

Attending pastors expressed deep impressions and positive feedback.
A Presbyterian pastor remarked, “The message was logical and deeply moving. It reminded me to cast away prejudice and verify the truth for myself.”
Another pastor from the Full Gospel denomination commented, “If Chairman Man Hee Lee delivers the Word as a large framework, Tribe Leader Lee Jeong-woo explains it in fine detail, making it easier to understand.”

Building Dialogue with Pastors in Busan and Gyeongnam

A representative of the Andre Tribe said, “This lecture marks the beginning of continued dialogue and exchange of the Word with pastors in the Busan–Gyeongnam region. We hope it will help them understand and practice faith based on God’s true will and purpose.”
