UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. Shincheonji Baseball Team Claims Victory at National Amateur Championship

The Shincheonji Church of Jesus (Chairman: Man Hee Lee) celebrated a remarkable sporting achievement as its baseball team “Headquarter” took first place at the 16th Korea Sports Association National Amateur Baseball Tournament (Division II), held in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, from September 20–28.

This annual tournament, hosted by the Korea Baseball Softball Association and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, and the Korean Sports Association, is considered one of the premier competitions for amateur baseball enthusiasts in Korea. Over 800 players representing 30 regional teams participated this year.


A Road to Victory

Headquarter advanced to the finals with dominant performances, defeating Seoul Blitz 11–2 in the quarterfinals and overcoming Boseong Magic in the semifinals.

In the championship match, Headquarter took an early 2–0 lead, extended it with a three-run homer in the fourth inning, and held off a late rally from Gongju City to secure a 5–3 win.

Multiple Honors Awarded

Beyond the championship trophy, the team swept individual awards including Best Pitcher, MVP, Best Manager, and Contribution Award.

Head Coach Ahn Jun-gyeom credited the win to discipline and unity:

“With strong spirit and perfect teamwork, our players achieved this victory. We will continue to grow stronger and aim for international competitions.”


Building Youth Through Sports

Composed of Shincheonji youth members, the team trains twice a month with professional-style programs, emphasizing both athletic skill and teamwork. The Shincheonji Sports Department supports a variety of sports activities to promote healthy faith, fellowship, and community engagement.

This victory reflects not only athletic excellence but also the positive role of faith-based community sports in Korea.
