Honoring National Heroes: Shincheonji Busan Seobu and Masan Branches Execute Summer Welfare and Generational Care Initiatives for Veterans

Sustaining Structural Safety Nets and Emotional Comfort for Aging Veterans

In observance of June, designated as the Month of Defense and Veterans in South Korea, preserving the physical health and psychological well-being of elderly national veterans has emerged as an essential focus for regional civic organizations. To directly address the social isolation and seasonal vulnerabilities faced by senior patriots, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Busan Seobu and Masan Branches successfully completed independent, customized support programs. These initiatives focused on combining practical environmental improvements and summer relief supplies with innovative emotional care activities to expand a culture of voluntary veterans' appreciation.

Busan Seobu Branch: "Summer Clean Day" Infrastructure Care and AI-Integrated Art Therapy

The Busan Seobu Branch mobilized targeted care routines at the Saha-gu Chapter of the Korean Vietnam War Veterans Association to prepare aging veterans for severe summer heatwaves:

  • Facility Renovation: A team of 7 branch volunteers executed deep cleaning operations throughout the association's headquarters, systematically sanitizing air conditioners, exhaust fans, and public restrooms to improve sanitary conditions and prevent seasonal infections.

  • Infrastructure Donation: To enhance climate resilience within the facility, the branch formally donated a large-scale industrial electric fan.

  • AI Ink-and-Wash Painting Program: Merging technological innovation with psychological support, volunteers measured the pulse rates of 9 attending veterans and integrated the data with an artificial intelligence application to generate customized, individual ink-and-wash artwork. Social welfare analysts evaluated the process as a highly functional contribution to cognitive activation and emotional satisfaction among elderly participants.

Masan Branch: "Wise Summering" Kits and Portrait Framings with Official Commendations

Simultaneously, the Masan Branch conducted successive courtesy visits to the Masan Chapters of the Korean Disabled Veterans Association and the Korean Vietnam War Veterans Association Affected by Agent Orange:

  • Welfare Material Distribution: The branch distributed specialized "Wise Summering" kits containing portable cooling fans, bamboo salt candies, and essential daily livelihood provisions to mitigate hot seasonal weather.

  • Longevity Portrait Commemoration: The Masan Branch presented high-quality, customized patriotic portrait frames to 59 individual national veterans, using portraits captured during a dedicated photography session managed by the branch in the preceding month. Ha Sam-shik (80), the Chapter Head of the Masan Agent Orange Association, emphasized the importance of sustained community remembrance following the presentation.

  • Official Recognition: In acknowledgment of its continuous, institutionalized volunteer operations supporting veterans' organizations, the Masan Branch was officially awarded a formal Plaque of Appreciation by the Korean Vietnam War Veterans Association Affected by Agent Orange.

A Shared Commitment to Preserving the Legacy of National Protectors

Both regional branches reaffirmed that modern civic liberties are fundamentally rooted in the historic sacrifices of military veterans. Executive representatives from the Busan Seobu and Masan Branches stated that the organizations will systematically maintain diverse public interest contributions to ensure that local communities continuously respect, remember, and care for aging national heroes.
