Small Actions, Positive Influence: Shincheonji Andre Church Promotes Environmental Awareness Through Local Plogging

Plogging—a sustainable eco-friendly movement combining jogging or walking with trash picking—has emerged globally as a practical way to foster community health and environmental stewardship. When a local organization takes the lead in cleaning public streets, it does more than just remove litter; it gently encourages surrounding neighborhoods to reflect on everyday waste habits. A clear example of this civic responsibility took place on July 19. Andre Church of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus organized a neighborhood plogging campaign, gathering 32 church volunteers to clear waste along the streets surrounding their local training institute. Despite midsummer heat and high humidity, the participants systematically divided into coverage zones to gather cigarette butts, food packaging, and general household trash that had accumulated on nearby roads and sidewalks. Precision Healthcare and Nutrition Support: Shincheonji Volunteers Provide Targeted Summer Relief for Vulnerable Groups Across South Gyeonggi

Addressing Extreme Seasonal Heatwaves Through Tailored Regional Care

With summer heatwaves posing severe health risks to vulnerable populations, establishing targeted private-led safety nets is essential for community protection. Elderly individuals living with chronic conditions and single-living citizens face heightened physical vulnerabilities during extreme temperatures. To provide tailored relief, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul & South Gyeonggi Regional Alliance announced on July 20th that it has expanded its customized summer care campaign across its local branches, carrying forward a welfare tradition maintained continuously since 2022.

Osan & Hwaseong Branches: Freshly Prepared Oriental Samgyetang for Disabled Residents

On July 14th, the joint Osan and Hwaseong branches launched a targeted nutritional delivery project in collaboration with the Osan Branch of the Gyeonggi Association of Persons with Disabilities:

  • Target Households: The branches selected 20 local households with disabilities recommended by the association to receive direct home care.

  • Nutritional Support: Volunteers personally prepared and delivered freshly cooked Hanbang Samgyetang (oriental ginseng chicken soup) accompanied by freshly made cabbage kimchi (geotjeori).

  • Beneficiary Response: One recipient shared deep appreciation upon receiving the meal, stating, "Feeling that someone remembers and visits us with true sincerity offers great comfort during this harsh summer."

Pyeongtaek Branch: On-Site Health Diagnostics and Heat Wave Management for War Veterans

On July 16th, the Pyeongtaek Branch operated a specialized health and wellness consultation clinic at the Pyeongtaek Veterans Hall, catering directly to 6·25 Korean War veterans:

  • Medical Consultations: Professional nursing personnel accompanied the volunteer team to perform direct physical assessments, measuring blood pressure and blood sugar levels, followed by personalized health counseling.

  • Heatwave Safety Guidance: On-site medical personnel advised senior veterans on proper hydration, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and managing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes during extreme weather.

  • Hydration Relief: Following the health check-ups, fresh watermelons were served to help the attending veterans cool down and stay hydrated.

  • Participant Feedback: One participating veteran noted, "Living alone makes it easy to overlook small health issues, so having medical professionals check my condition directly was immensely helpful. I hope opportunities like this continue."

Extending Sustainable Private Safety Nets Across South Gyeonggi

A representative from the Seoul & South Gyeonggi Regional Alliance emphasized that extreme heat represents a direct disaster for social safety blind spots. The Alliance reaffirmed its commitment to expanding continuous health checks, nutrition support, and seasonal welfare operations, ensuring that vulnerable community members remain safe and well-supported throughout the summer season.
