On September 22, 2026, the Wonjong-dong Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities in Bucheon transformed into a cozy neighborhood salon.

For elderly individuals with disabilities and mobility limitations, even simple daily chores like visiting a hair salon can become a overwhelming physical hurdle. Recognizing these hidden challenges, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Bucheon Branch organized a specialized, door-to-door mobile hair styling outreach.


Veteran Talent Donation: Custom Styling with 20+ Years of Experience

This initiative was driven by seasoned professional stylists, each possessing over 20 years of experience in hair care.

Instead of uniform haircuts, the volunteer hair stylists carefully assessed each senior’s face shape, hair texture, and individual preference before cutting and blow-drying:

  • Tailored Precision: Each senior received personalized hair shaping that restored both neatness and personal confidence.

  • Overcoming Mobility Barriers: Kim Gi-ho, President of the Bucheon Branch of the Gyeonggi Welfare Association for People with Disabilities, noted that welfare staff previously had to transport disabled seniors by car to salons, making this mobile visit a vital relief for both staff and residents.

  • Continuous Commitment: This marked the second consecutive month of mobile hair care following an initial session in August, fulfilling an ongoing commitment.

Warm Companionship Beyond Scissors and Combs

The volunteer effort was divided into two complementary roles: professional hair styling and emotional support.

While stylists worked with scissors and combs, other volunteers sat beside those waiting for their turn, listening attentively to their daily life stories and inquiring about their well-being:
