A Bowl of Honor: Shincheonji Icheon Volunteers Nourished 10 Local War Heroes

Shincheonji Volunteer Group Icheon Branch Served Homemade Samgyetang and Heatwave Relief Kits to Korean War Veterans in Mid-August "Preparing a hot, nourishing meal for those who protected our country wasn't just a service—it was our duty of gratitude." — Lee Kyeong-hee, Volunteer at Shincheonji Volunteer Group Icheon Branch   In the sweltering heat of late August, staying healthy and hydrated is a major challenge, especially for aging Korean War veterans. On August 21, the office of the 6·25 Korean War Veterans Association in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, was filled with the rich, comforting aroma of freshly simmered ginseng chicken soup ( Samgyetang ). Volunteers from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Icheon Branch gathered to host a heartwarming luncheon for 10 local war veterans, blending heartfelt hospitality with essential heatwave care. [Event] One World One Flower International Buddhist Film Festival (OBIFF)

The 2023 One World One Flower International Buddhist Film Festival (OIBFF) 





I would like to introduce a film festival called One World One Flower International Buddhist Film Festival (OIBFF). It is a film festival is to promote the Buddhism in the World. Starting from the year 2021, this year OIBFF is celebrating its 3rd festival. 

This year, the film festival showcases international movies that shows the life of the Buddhist practitioners and also global citizen's interpretation on the universal values of Buddhism. 2023 OIBFF will cover more than 48 Buddhist themes and Buddhist inspired movies from 27 different countries around the world. Movies are selected to capture the fundamental questions about life, humanity, and universal truth. The film festival consists of two main section, in the view of Buddhist practitioners and World Cinema, and one short collection section. 

Festival will be held from Friday, August 17th to Sunday, August 20th, 2023. Opening ceremony is on August 17th (5pm) at Dongguk University. Opening film is "Dark Red Forest." It is a documentary produced in China. This film received a documentary award at the 2022 Seattle international film festival. Closing ceremony is on August 20th (6pm) at Daehan Cinema, showcasing the Korean documentary movie "Mama and Maga."
