Putting Down Smartphones to Make Eye Contact: Shincheonji Gwacheon Church Hosts "Daddy, Let’s Play!" Family Picnic

In an age dominated by standardized toys and digital screens, a heartwarming scene unfolded at Chomakgol Ecological Park in Gyeonggi Province. On May 23rd, the Gwacheon Church of the John Tribe of Shincheonji successfully hosted "Daddy, Let’s Play!"—a special family picnic designed to strengthen the bonds between fathers and their children through raw, screen-free interaction. Screen-Free Joy in the Great Outdoors The event welcomed approximately 30 families , including preschoolers and elementary students, who stepped away from their busy routines to embrace nature. The program was carefully curated to encourage physical touch and teamwork: The Treasure Hunt: Children and fathers navigated forest paths and bushes hand-in-hand, fostering a shared sense of achievement as they uncovered hidden slips of paper. The 2023 One World One Flower International Buddhist Film Festival (OIBFF) 





I would like to introduce a film festival called One World One Flower International Buddhist Film Festival (OIBFF). It is a film festival is to promote the Buddhism in the World. Starting from the year 2021, this year OIBFF is celebrating its 3rd festival. 

This year, the film festival showcases international movies that shows the life of the Buddhist practitioners and also global citizen's interpretation on the universal values of Buddhism. 2023 OIBFF will cover more than 48 Buddhist themes and Buddhist inspired movies from 27 different countries around the world. Movies are selected to capture the fundamental questions about life, humanity, and universal truth. The film festival consists of two main section, in the view of Buddhist practitioners and World Cinema, and one short collection section. 

Festival will be held from Friday, August 17th to Sunday, August 20th, 2023. Opening ceremony is on August 17th (5pm) at Dongguk University. Opening film is "Dark Red Forest." It is a documentary produced in China. This film received a documentary award at the 2022 Seattle international film festival. Closing ceremony is on August 20th (6pm) at Daehan Cinema, showcasing the Korean documentary movie "Mama and Maga."
