Shincheonji’s Peter Tribe Shares Stories of Faith and Family During Korea’s Family Month
💡 What Is Family Month in Korea?
In South Korea, May is Family Month, a time to reflect on love, appreciation, and togetherness. From Parents’ Day to Children’s Day, this month holds deep meaning for many.
For members of the Peter Tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus in Gwangju, it became a season to celebrate another kind of family—a spiritual family built on the Word.
🏠 Building Family Through Faith at Shincheonji Gwangju Church
At Shincheonji Gwangju Church, believers are united not just by location, but by Scripture. Members refer to one another as brothers, sisters, and even parents in faith. This spiritual kinship becomes a source of strength during life’s hardest moments.
💌 Words Left Unsaid, Now Spoken with Love
One district leader, Ms. Yoo Hye-young, shared how thankful she is for a member who encourages her with simple words like:
“Stay strong today.”
“Thank you for your efforts.”
Even during her own personal struggles, this member reached out with compassion, saying:
“I’ll protect you. Don’t get sick. Stay strong.”
That moment, she said, felt just like family.
🤍 When Faith Heals What Doctors Can’t
Ms. Kim Hye-mi had to undergo major surgery last year. Watching worship online left her feeling disconnected from God and herself. Her group leader, however, never gave up—visiting her, praying with her, and sending messages of care.
“Even when I was difficult, she stayed,” Kim shared.
“Meeting someone like her is a gift. She’s family.”
💞 A Husband’s Heart Finally Opens
Ms. Park Seon-rye struggled to share her faith with her husband. But recently, he joined her in Shincheonji’s activities. One evening, he simply said:
“You must have had a hard time. I’m sorry.”
That short sentence lifted years of unspoken burdens. Their spiritual connection deepened, not just as a couple, but as a family.
👩👦 A Mother Finds Support in Her Hardest Season
Ms. Kwon Myeong-ja, a mother caring for her sick child, couldn’t focus on Bible study. Her group leader noticed—and made a life-changing decision.
For 10 months, that leader personally took the child to the hospital three times a week so Kwon could attend class and find rest in the Word.
“Those one or two hours of study were my freedom,” Kwon said.
“No one else would do that without expecting anything back. That’s true love.”
🗣️ A Message from Shincheonji’s Peter Tribe Leader
Tribe leader Yoo Jae-wook said:
“The church’s true purpose is to live out God’s love—encouraging, helping, and growing together in faith.”
“Today, we believe the New Covenant is fulfilled. We are not just members—we are a spiritual family in God.”
He added that Shincheonji will continue to practice the teachings of the Bible and share the love of Jesus with others.
💬 A Family Bound by Faith
This May, members of Shincheonji’s Peter Tribe remind us:
💛 You don’t have to be born into family—sometimes, you grow into one through faith.
Whether through a message, a visit, or ten months of silent sacrifice, these stories reflect the core of what Shincheonji teaches: Love, service, and unity in the Word.
