UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The petition voices growing international alarm over institutional discrimination, social stigma, and the erosion of due process affecting minority groups, specifically focusing on the recent treatment of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. The Core Appeal: Decisions Must Be Based on Evidence, Not Stigma In its official submission to the UN, CAP LC shifted the focus away from internal theological controversies, choosing instead to address a more critical systemic issue: the objective standards of administrative and judicial justice. The international NGO expressed deep concern that unverified negative perceptions originating in South Korea are being exported g...

A New Chapter at 80: Shincheonji Believer Memorizes the Entire Book of Revelation

“It’s never too late to learn,” says Park Seong-ae, 80, who found true faith and a new life through the Word.

In a world where many think age limits growth, Park Seong-ae, a devoted believer from Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Seoul James Tribe (Pocheon Church), is proving otherwise.

Living in Donggyo-dong, Pocheon, Ms. Park starts each day at 6 a.m. with prayer and memorization of the Bible. At 80 years old, she has done what many younger people find difficult: she memorized the entire book of Revelation. This remarkable journey, filled with patience and persistence, has become the beginning of her second life.

“I thought I knew faith... but I was wrong.”

For over 30 years, Park attended a traditional church. Like many, she believed serving and simply believing in Jesus would lead to heaven. But that changed when she came to Shincheonji.

“I realized that true faith is not just believing, but knowing and keeping the Word as it is written,” she said.
“Through the teaching of Shincheonji, I understood the meaning of Revelation and how its prophecies are being fulfilled today.”

Her view of faith was transformed through Shincheonji’s Revelation-centered education. Memorizing each chapter, verse by verse, helped her truly understand the connection between prophecy and fulfillment.

A Life of Discipline and Joy

Despite aging eyes and fading memory, Park didn’t give up. She split her study time throughout the day — during house chores, exercise, and even while lying in bed. With a heart full of passion, she filled notebook after notebook with handwritten verses and reflections.

“I started with just one verse. Then one chapter. And slowly, I did two... and more,” she shared.
“When it was hard, I read it 10 times. Then 10 more times. Again and again, until it stuck. It really works!”

The Power of Encouragement

One of her biggest supporters is her daughter, who introduced her to Shincheonji. With loving support — from buying notebooks to cheering her on — the daughter’s encouragement became a key part of Park’s motivation.

“My mom’s transformation is incredible,” the daughter said.
“Watching her passion made me want to grow and learn, too.”

Now, people around Park notice the change. She feels more energetic, positive, and focused. And she herself says, “I feel younger in both body and heart.”

Helping Seniors Shine Again

A representative from Shincheonji Pocheon Church shared that many elderly believers are experiencing a similar revival in life. Through tailored education programs, even seniors in their 70s and 80s are discovering the joy of the Word.

“We’re so happy to support them in starting their second and even third chapters of life.”

Faith and growth know no age. Through the Word of Revelation and the right guidance, even an 80-year-old can start a whole new life of meaning and joy.
