UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). “Meals Made with Love” — Shincheonji Volunteer Group Serves Side Dishes to Vulnerable Neighbors in Hwaseong and Osan

The Hwaseong–Osan Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group, led by Branch Director Kim Seung-sik, prepared and delivered homemade side dishes to 20 households of people with disabilities in the local community. The effort aimed to bring warmth, comfort, and healthy meals to those in need.

From Preparation to Delivery — A Meal Full of Care

Held at the Osan City branch office of the Gyeonggi Province Disabled Persons Welfare Association, the volunteer team managed the entire process—from choosing the menu and selecting fresh ingredients to cooking and packaging the meals—with special attention to nutrition and taste.

One volunteer reflected,

“At first, I thought it was simply about making side dishes. But as I cooked and packed each meal, I realized how much sincerity and care go into them. I’d like to join more of these sharing activities in the future.”

Bringing Comfort Through Warm Meals

The freshly made side dishes were delivered through the welfare association to 20 households, offering not just food but also a heartfelt message of encouragement.
A branch representative said,

“We hope these warm meals will help each recipient enjoy a more comfortable day. We will continue working with local welfare organizations to help even more neighbors in need.”

They added that the initiative is part of the branch’s ongoing commitment to provide consistent support and foster community growth.

A Tradition of Monthly Service

Since 2022, the Hwaseong–Osan Branch has partnered with the welfare association to support people with disabilities through various programs, including meal sharing, healing trips, and craft workshops—fostering emotional well-being and promoting healthy living.

By turning simple side dishes into meaningful acts of care, the volunteers continue to prove that love and kindness can be served on a plate.
