UN Human Rights Council Receives Petition on Minorities in South Korea

What began as a domestic legal dispute in South Korea has officially reached the global stage. CAP LC, a prominent international human rights NGO holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has submitted a formal written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The petition voices growing international alarm over institutional discrimination, social stigma, and the erosion of due process affecting minority groups, specifically focusing on the recent treatment of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. The Core Appeal: Decisions Must Be Based on Evidence, Not Stigma In its official submission to the UN, CAP LC shifted the focus away from internal theological controversies, choosing instead to address a more critical systemic issue: the objective standards of administrative and judicial justice. The international NGO expressed deep concern that unverified negative perceptions originating in South Korea are being exported g...

Youth Volunteers Lead Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign to Overcome Summer Shortage

In the heat of summer and peak vacation season—when blood supply shortages become most severe—youth volunteers from We Are One, a Shincheonji Church of Jesus-affiliated volunteer group, are stepping forward across the nation to save lives through blood donation.

Over 870 Donations in Daegu-Gyeongbuk

From July 28 to August 10, members of the We Are One Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Association (covering Daegu, Pohang, Gumi, Gyeongju, and Andong) participated in the 2025 We Are Red Blood Donation Campaign, recording over 870 successful donations.
One long-term participant from the Pohang branch, who had donated blood 15 times despite past health challenges, shared that he managed to join again this year through dedicated health management.

Cheonan Branch: Overcoming the “Summer Blood Crisis”

In the Cheonan Branch, youth joined the summer “We Are Red” campaign with a target of 131 donations over 84 days. Even in sweltering 30°C heat, young adults—university students, office workers, and more—lined up to donate at the local blood center.
Participants included a first-time donor who overcame her fear of needles and a remarkable donor who has given blood 139 times, earning the title of multiple-donation honoree.

According to the Korean Red Cross Blood Service, as of early July, Korea’s national blood reserve stood at 4.9 days’ supply—below the optimal 5-day standard—with some blood types dropping to critical levels. Cheonan’s campaign is expected to make a meaningful impact in easing the shortage.

Daejeon-Chungcheong Region: 400+ Donations and Growing

In the Daejeon-Chungcheong Regional Association, youth volunteers have been running a blood donation relay since July 28, with 428 people donating by August 10. Mobile blood donation buses have been stationed in locations such as the front of Daejeon Shincheonji Church of Jesus, where participants share a common goal: to provide life-saving blood during the most critical time of the year.

Many donors expressed how the act of giving strengthened not only their community spirit but also their personal commitment to helping others. As one participant put it, “Regular blood donation is the best way to save lives while taking care of your own health.”

Nationwide Goal: 10,000 Donors by October

The We Are Red 2025 Campaign runs nationwide until October 18, with a goal of 10,000 donors. Activities are divided into summer and Chuseok holiday periods to ensure a stable blood supply throughout the year.

With more than 90,000 members in Korea and 75 countries worldwide, We Are One continues to serve communities through environmental cleanup, disaster relief, and life-saving initiatives like blood donation—holding to the belief that “One donation can save one life.”
