34 Shincheonji Malawi Volunteers Brighten Mbayani Streets

On September 6, 2025, members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Malawi branch, rolled up their sleeves once again to serve their community. A team of 34 volunteers carried out a street clean-up in the Mbayani district of Blantyre, marking the church’s fourth clean-up initiative this year.

Since June, the Malawi Church has been holding monthly street clean-up campaigns, committed to creating cleaner neighborhoods and contributing to a healthier living environment for residents.

Service Beyond Cleaning

A church representative explained that the initiative goes far deeper than simply picking up litter:

“This is not just about cleaning streets. It is about following the example of Jesus, becoming salt and light to our community, and serving our neighbors with love.”

By modeling service and humility, volunteers aim to embody the spirit of Christ in everyday action.

Voices from the Volunteers

Catherine, a 34-year-old member who joined the effort, shared her reflection:

“Each month we continue this work to set an example as children of God. When residents thank us and take greater interest in preserving the environment, I feel encouraged to keep serving faithfully.”

Her words echoed the wider sentiment among the team—joy and determination fueled by the positive reactions of local residents.

Positive Response from the Community

Residents of Mbayani warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing gratitude for the visible changes:

  • “Thank you for doing what we should have done ourselves.”

  • “Seeing the street become brighter lifts our hearts too.”

  • “Your willingness to step forward inspires us, and we are grateful our community feels more hopeful.”

These responses highlight how simple acts of service can strengthen community bonds and reshape public perception.

Looking Ahead: A Church that Serves with Humility

The Malawi Church emphasized that their goal is to remain a church that serves humbly while sharing the true teachings of Jesus. They also voiced a long-term vision: to expand their role as “salt and light” not only in Malawi but throughout Africa.

Through consistent volunteer work and a spirit of giving, Shincheonji Malawi Church is proving that even small, steady acts of service can create lasting impact in communities.
