The Shincheonji Thaddaeus Tribe (Doma Tribe) in Jeonju has continued a long-running community engagement initiative, keeping its church facilities open to local residents for nearly two decades. Located in Palbok-dong, Jeonju, the Shincheonji Thaddaeus Tribe Jeonju Church recently hosted another “Open Sanctuary” event, transforming its lobby into a welcoming space for neighborhood interaction. Residents gathered to enjoy busking performances, exchange handwritten message cards, and share tea in a relaxed setting. According to the church, the initiative is not a one-time event but part of a 20-year tradition of lowering physical and social barriers between religious facilities and the surrounding community. Youth Volunteers in Gunsan Lead Blood Donation Efforts Amid National Shortage

On August 29, 2025, the Gunsan Branch of We Are One, a youth volunteer group affiliated with Shincheonji Church of Jesus, joined the nationwide “We Are Red” blood donation campaign, helping address Korea’s critical summer blood shortage.

Over 200 Donations Completed Since July

Since July 28, the Gunsan Branch has recorded 206 successful blood donations, including 35 on August 29 alone. The initiative was conducted in partnership with the Korean Red Cross Jeonbuk Blood Center, operating a mobile blood bus in front of Shincheonji Gunsan Church.

In addition to donating, participants chose to contribute their blood donation certificates, raising funds worth approximately 1 million KRW to support patients in financial need.


Voices from the Campaign

One young donor, Kim Ji-eun (22), shared:

“During my last attempt my blood levels were too low. This time I managed my health with supplements and exercise so I could donate successfully.”

A citizen who witnessed the campaign remarked:

“I’ve seen people line up for restaurants, but never for blood donation. These young volunteers are an inspiring example of selfless giving.”


Building on a Record of Service

The Gunsan Branch has run quarterly blood donation campaigns since July 2023, with:

  • 488 donors in late 2023

  • 325 donors in early 2024

  • 382 donors in late 2024

The 2025 campaign will continue through October, ensuring supplies remain stable during the upcoming holiday season.

A branch representative said:

“Many members prepared their health carefully and even tried again after failed attempts. Through this campaign, we hope to spread a sustainable culture of donation in our community.”

Strengthening the Culture of Life-Saving

The efforts of We Are One’s Gunsan Branch demonstrate how youth-driven volunteerism can ease recurring summer shortages and promote a broader culture of life-sharing in Korean society.
