Shincheonji Iksan Church Spreads Warmth During Chuseok with Neighborly Sharing

Chuseok (추석), Korea’s harvest festival, is a time when families gather to honor their ancestors, share traditional foods, and give thanks. Beyond family circles, Chuseok is also a season for communities to extend kindness and care to one another.

In this spirit, Shincheonji Church of Jesus – Thomas Tribe’s Iksan Church carried out meaningful volunteer activities ahead of the holiday, strengthening ties with neighbors and caring for the environment.

Sharing Gifts and Warm Greetings

On October 1, under the slogan “With the Community, With Our Neighbors”, around 50 members of Iksan Church visited 50 households and nearby shops. They delivered traditional Korean sweets like yakgwa (약과) along with handwritten letters.

One resident expressed heartfelt appreciation, saying:

“Receiving such a thoughtful gift right before the holiday truly touched me. I’m very thankful.”

Cleaning the Streets for a Brighter Holiday

In addition to sharing gifts, church members also took part in an environmental cleanup campaign. They collected litter from busy alleyways frequently used by holiday travelers, ensuring the streets were welcoming and clean for the festive season.

A Message of Hope for Chuseok

Pastor Jung Jae-sung, head of Iksan Church, shared:

“We wish for the continued health of all citizens who endured a particularly difficult summer. May this Chuseok be a time of joy and abundance with your families.”

Carrying the Spirit of Chuseok Forward

Shincheonji Iksan Church emphasized that these activities are not one-time events but part of an ongoing effort to contribute to the community. Their plans include continuing acts of sharing and volunteerism to build stronger relationships with local residents.

✨ Just as Chuseok represents gratitude, sharing, and togetherness, Shincheonji Iksan Church’s actions brought these values to life—reminding us that holidays are most meaningful when celebrated with neighbors and community.
