For a Greener Future: Shincheonji Pocheon Branch Leads Interactive Carbon Neutrality Campaign

Promoting Net-Zero Living in Local Communities

Achieving "Net Zero" by 2050—reducing carbon emissions to zero—requires more than just industrial changes; it demands a shift in daily habits. To foster this culture, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pocheon Branch hosted an interactive carbon neutrality campaign in front of the Pocheon Volunteer Center on May 25th. As part of the "Nature, Be Green!" project, the initiative focused on making environmental protection accessible and engaging for local residents.

Learning Through Play: Interactive Booths and Quizzes

The campaign moved beyond simple leafleting to provide hands-on experiences that helped citizens internalize eco-friendly values.

  • Educational Engagement: The branch operated OX quizzes regarding carbon neutrality and organized recycling game booths to teach correct waste disposal in a fun, accessible way.

  • Eco-Friendly Incentives: Participants who completed the programs received upcycled four-leaf clover keyrings made from sock-neck remnants and eco-bags to encourage the reduction of single-use plastics.

Citizen and Volunteer Reflections

The practical nature of the campaign resonated with attendees.

  • Resident Feedback: Lee Shin-sook (60s), a local resident, shared that receiving the eco-bag motivated her to stop using plastic bags when grocery shopping.

  • Volunteer Experience: First-time volunteer Ji Su-jeong (58) noted the positive atmosphere, expressing a desire to consistently apply the environmental practices she learned during the event.

Expanding the Scope of Social Contribution

The "Nature, Be Green!" project remains a flagship initiative for Shincheonji Volunteers, encompassing wetland preservation, disaster recovery, and the creation of flower paths in illegal dumping zones. A representative from the Pocheon Branch emphasized their goal to make carbon neutrality a natural lifestyle habit for residents. Looking ahead, the branch plans to transition its focus to the "National Love, Peace, and Sharing" initiative in June to commemorate Month of Defense and Veterans.
