Remembering 6·25 War Heroes: Shincheonji Cheonan Branch Hosts Civic Gratitude Campaign with 3,900+ Citizens
Promoting Veterans' Appreciation and Heat Relief in Urban Spaces
To honor the historic sacrifices of Korean War veterans while providing practical heatwave relief to urban commuters, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Cheonan Branch executed its specialized "Wise Summer Life" campaign on July 25th. Operations were conducted across 4 key locations around the busy Cheonan Intercity Bus Terminal area in Chungcheongnam-do. The initiative combined direct heat mitigation with interactive public programs, allowing citizens across generations to express tangible gratitude to national defenders.
Multigenerational Civic Outreach and Handwritten Letters
The core highlight of the street outreach was an interactive booth where passing pedestrians and local families could write personal messages of thanks to living Korean War heroes:
Diverse Civic Participation: Citizens of all ages paused to participate, including 4 elementary school students who carefully composed handwritten notes for the veterans.
Youth Engagement: A resident in their 20s noted that the veterans would feel deeply appreciated upon reading the messages. Additionally, 2 young adults who had previously participated in similar remembrance programs at the Independence Hall of Korea voluntarily visited the booth to share heartfelt written tributes.
Large-Scale Heat Relief: 152 Volunteers Mobilized for 3,900+ Participants
A dedicated task force of 152 branch volunteers managed the logistics and distribution across the designated terminal zones, achieving high public engagement:
Relief Item Distribution: Volunteers distributed 1,000 bottles of iced water and 1,000 promotional hand fans directly to 2,040 citizens navigating the summer heat.
Specialized Booth Souvenirs: The interactive experience booth provided 40 specialized gifts, including cooling arm sleeves, portable electric hand fans, and cooling relief patches, to active message contributors.
Total Civic Reach: Across all four terminal locations, a cumulative total of 3,920 citizens actively participated in the remembrance campaign.
Spreading Community Value and National Remembrance
A representative from the Cheonan Branch highlighted that the project served a dual purpose: spreading a refreshing culture of community sharing during peak summer heat while providing a meaningful opportunity for everyday citizens to actively remember the sacrifices of 6·25 Korean War veterans. Moving forward, the Cheonan Branch plans to maintain diverse civic-led public service programs to continually honor national patriots and strengthen local social networks.
